A group of adult English learners in a library, seated around a teacher. The students, a diverse group of individuals, are focused on the lesson, with books and notebooks open in front of them. Shelves of books line the background, creating a cozy and welcoming learning environment.

At South Bay Literacy Council, we're committed to transforming lives through the power of literacy by teaching adults to read, write, and effectively communicate in English at no cost.

Testimonials

I helped at my daughter's dance performance by organizing and serving lunch with the other English-speaking volunteers. It was the first time I felt comfortable enough to use English with other moms. It was fun and my daughter noticed my new confidence.
